January 2009: Marshall announces Strategic Alliance with Stockport Truck Centre
Marshall Fleet Solutions is pleased to announce the strengthening of their service provision in the north of the country following a strategic alliance with Stockport Truck Centre. The partnership will allow the UK’s largest dealer in vehicle-mounted refrigeration and tail-lift equipment to offer workshop facilities from 4 new locations (Haydock, Stockport, Birkenhead and Hyde). The deal cements a long-standing relationship between the two organisations and is a win-win situation for both sets of customers who now have a complete one-stop-shop for all commercial vehicle servicing needs. Commenting on the announcement, Stockport Truck Centre MD Gareth Hardy said “The services offered by Marshall fully complement our own. Minimum downtime is the most important factor for our customers. Being able to offer fridge and tail-lift servicing, as well as all other aspects of commercial maintenance and body repairs, under one roof means less overall downtime.” This view was endorsed by Nigel Faben, MD of Marshall Fleet Solutions, “Stockport Truck Centre have built up a good reputation with the vehicle distribution industry in the Greater Manchester area. Like us, they provide 24/7 emergency breakdown cover and the highest levels of workmanship. It makes sense for us to share their state-of-the-art facilities, whilst providing unrivalled levels of service in the area.”
August 2008: Top Safety Accreditation for Marshall Fleet Solutions
Marshall Fleet Solutions is one of the latest companies to join a leading edge scheme, designed to help industry improve its safety record. With around 150 mobile engineers working across the UK on transport refrigeration and tail-lift equipment, Marshall Fleet Solutions recently received accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a programme which recognises very high standards of health and safety practise amongst UK contractors.
Safecontractor is operated by international safety, health and environmental risk management specialists, the National Britannia Group. Under the scheme, businesses undergo a vetting process, which examines health and safety procedures and track record for safe practice. Accredited companies are included on a database which is accessible to registered employer organisations, who can vet potential contractors before they set foot on site.
On receiving the accreditation, Norman Highnam, Contracts Director at Marshall Thermo King commented “We maintain fleets for virtually all of the major chilled food distribution companies and around 90% of our work is carried out at customer sites. Our engineers are often working at height, with dangerous substances, on industrial equipment in difficult conditions. This scheme recognises our significant investment in safety equipment, our rigorous procedures and our comprehensive training programme.”
June 2008: Marshall Fleet Solutions Expands it's 12 tonne Weight Testing Facilities across the UK
As part of its continued consolidation of Commercial Vehicle Maintenance services, Marshall Fleet Solutions is currently installing Weight Testing facilities into another 10 of its depots across the UK. The equipment allows weight testing on lifting decks up to a capacity of 12 tonnes. Previously, this service was only offered at 4 specialist Tail-Lift workshops in the Midlands. “Due to their improved operational efficiency, we have seen a rapid expansion in the use of double deck trailers equipped with both moving and fixed floors” states Mark Smith, Head of the Tail Lift Division. “We are one of the few UK companies able to service and maintain these trailers, and so it made commercial sense to expand our facilities nationwide.”
